    Shipka Park-Museum is an open-air museum, part of the Shipka-Buzludzha National Park-Museum, in the eastern part of the Shipka Mountains.
    The Freedom Monument

    It is dedicated to the heroic epic of the Battle of Shipka (with 3 battles near Mount Shipka) for control of the Shipka Pass during the period July-September 1877 during the Russo-Turkish War (1877-1878).

    It is a complex of 26 monuments, reconstructions of positions, batteries and dugouts on an area of ​​120 hectares. The central place is occupied by the impressive Monument to Freedom on Mount Shipka (Stoletov, Sveti Nikola). The positions of the Bulgarian militia and the Russian troops that defended the Shipka Pass during the Russo-Turkish War (1877 – 1878) are marked.

    The first monuments were Russian and were built in 1878 - 1881. The Bulgarian monuments on the Shipka battlefield are those of the 3rd and 5th volunteer battalions (1910) and the Freedom Monument, opened in 1934 on Mount St. Nicholas (today Mount Shipka).

    The museum is included in the list of the Hundred National Tourist Sites of the Bulgarian Tourist Union under No. 93.
